WHY: The dog days of summer are no match for Craig Jones, the 2012 Food Network Grill Mayor and live-fire cooking expert, who creates pizzas on an outdoor grill even when the barometer soars. This Sunday Jones, also an avid coffee lover, will demo two unlikely pizza recipes at The Roasterie’s monthly community Food Truck Brunch: BBQ Coffee-Rubbed Chicken Pizza and Coffee-Rubbed Cuban Pizza.
“One of my passions is pizza and I love to share it with people,” says Jones, a Lee’s Summit resident. “And combining pizza with another passion—coffee—is an unexpected way to enjoy both, especially when I can incorporate local ingredients like Kansas City’s best coffee.”
Kansas City’s premier coffee purveyor started its monthly April - October family- and dog-friendly community Food Truck Brunch series in 2016 and crowds flock to experience some of the area’s best food trucks and local artisans like Jones.
“People absolutely love the atmosphere, camaraderie, food and coffee at our Food Truck Brunches,” says The Roasterie Founder Danny O’Neill. “The variety of food and activities—like this week’s pizza-cooking demo by Craig Jones—make for a fun Sunday.”
This Sunday Food Truck Brunch attendees can enjoy treats from some of Kansas City’s best food trucks, including Tito’s Kitchen & BBQ, Taste of Brazil Restaurant & Bar, Greg-Co BBQ and Beauty of the Bistro. Island-themed baked goods will be available for purchase from The Beachery. Kansas City vendors will include Door Way Clothing (KC-logo clothing) and Life Equals-The Superfood Shot. Guests can purchase The Roasterie’s new canned Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew and other coffee drinks.
The Roasterie hosts monthly Food Truck Brunch Sunday, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The remaining 2017 schedule includes: Sun. Sept. 24 and Sun. Oct. 22 (final brunch of the season and live entertainment). For more information, visit The Roasterie or call 816-931-4000.
